I make photographs about being human: closely observed, quietly emotional, and often gently amusing. My work begins with life as it happens. Sometimes I let it unfold. Sometimes I lend a helping hand. Either way, the feeling is pure. I capture fractions of everyday life in which tenderness prevails. People do wonderful things when they think no one is looking. That is precisely when I pay the most attention.
My books are in the collection of the Rijksmuseum.
